Sitting Ducks

A piece created a couple of years ago that—sadly—never seems to be irrelevant. Few things are more disturbing than a school shooting, largely because of the helplessness and innocence of its victims. A uniquely American phenomenon; as a US Senator noted, "this only happens here, and nowhere else." It's a good thing I make pictures, because I'm at a loss for words.

Perseverance

For a consulting firm's report on long-range planning and perseverance, which can be accomplished by setting manageable goals when facing challenging tasks.

White supremacy, Black death

A self generated piece inspired by the murder of ten Black shoppers at a Buffalo grocery store in a hate crime on May 14. The murderer was an avowed white supremacist.

What goes up...

A recent piece for the New York Times about plunging stock and mutual funds markets. After a lengthy run up that had stock prices at stratospheric levels, the market has suddenly faced steep declines since the beginning of the year.

Spring vaccines

An alternate version of an illustration from last spring heralding the arrival of covid vaccines. With a new virus now on the rise and in the news, the government is releasing supplies of its monkeypox vaccine; the good news is that monkeypox is far less transmissible than covid.

"Can we make that four players?" asked the client. I license stock illustrations through the ispot, and occasionally an image is almost exactly what the client is looking for... but not quite. This image—about whether one's retirement plans are on target—was originally done for an investment firm and featured two golfers, both men. But the stock client wanted four people—two couples—so I revised the artwork to meet the client's needs.
