Preventing school shootings

One of the most effective ways to prevent school shootings is to be aware of telltale signs and for an adult to intervene and have a meaningful conversation with a potential shooter. The speech balloon represents a conversation that replaces the trigger. Based on an unselected sketch for Education Week magazine.

The Education Week magazine illustration that ran. For an article about identifying potential school shooters, and ways to prevent an incident before it occurs. The client wanted the illustration to avoid showing guns or violence, so I suggested a flag at half mast inside an empty classroom.
