After majoring in illustration at Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, New York, Michael Glenwood worked as a graphic designer and illustrator in a telecommunication firm's graphics department before embarking on a career as a freelance illustrator.
In addition to a full time illustration career, he has been involved in printmaking at the Torpedo Factory Art Center in Alexandria, VA, Pyramid Atlantic in Silver Spring, MD, and the Corcoran College of Art in Washington, DC, focusing on mezzotints, etchings, letterpress and screen printing.
As a freelance illustrator, Michael has worked with a diverse and impressive list of clients, including national magazines and newspapers, major corporations, colleges and universities, book publishers, trade associations and others. He has also produced posters for theater, opera, and other clients.
His illustrations have received peer recognition from the cream of the crop in the industry, including the Society of Illustrators, Communication Arts, 3x3 Magazine, Creative Quarterly, American Illustration and others.
In addition to the Society of Illustrators gallery in New York, his work has been exhibited at the Edison Gallery in DC's gallery district, Billy Shire Gallery in Los Angeles, Gallery Nucleus in Los Angeles, the Corcoran Museum, the Ratner Musuem in Bethesda, MD, the Art Institute of Washington, 87 Florida Gallery in Washington, DC, the Cafritz Arts Center Gallery in Silver Spring, MD, and Montgomery College.
